Software built around how your organisation actually works.
Custom applications, internal systems, client portals, websites and mobile apps. We build what off-the-shelf products cannot do, and tell you honestly when an off-the-shelf product would serve you better.
When custom software is the right answer
These are the situations that most often bring organisations to us for this service. If two or three of them land, there is a conversation worth having.
- A critical process runs on spreadsheets that only one person fully understands
- You are paying for software that does most of what you need and blocks the rest
- Staff re-key the same information into three different systems every day
- Customers or partners ask for self-service you currently handle by email and phone
- Your competitors offer a digital experience you cannot match with your current tools
- An existing application is unsupported, undocumented, or the original developer has disappeared
What is included
The full capability. Most engagements start with part of it and grow, so you are not obliged to take everything on day one.
Discovery and requirements
Workshops with the people who do the work, mapping the process as it really runs before anybody writes a line of code.
Web applications
Internal systems, workflow tools, client portals and dashboards built as secure, responsive web applications your team can use anywhere.
Mobile applications
Native and cross-platform apps for iOS and Android, including offline-capable tools for field teams working with poor connectivity.
Websites and digital platforms
Corporate sites, e-commerce and customer platforms that are fast, accessible, search-friendly and straightforward for your team to update.
API development
Secure, documented APIs so your systems and your partner systems can exchange data reliably.
Legacy modernisation
Assessing, documenting and rebuilding or re-platforming applications that have become a liability.
Quality assurance and testing
Structured functional, integration, performance and security testing before anything reaches your users.
Support and enhancement
Ongoing maintenance, security updates and iterative improvement after launch, because that is where most of the value is realised.
Documentation and handover
Source code, documentation and knowledge transfer belong to you. No deliberate lock-in, ever.
What changes for your organisation
The outcomes we hold ourselves to. We agree how each one will be measured before work begins.
- Systems that match your process instead of forcing you to match theirs
- Manual re-keying and spreadsheet workarounds removed
- Self-service for customers, partners or staff who currently have to ask someone
- Software you own, documented well enough for another team to pick up
- A tested, secure application, reviewed during development rather than after
- A roadmap for what comes next, prioritised by value rather than by novelty
How we deliver it
The same five stages apply whether this is a short assessment or a long-term managed service.
Strategy
We start with your business goals, current systems, budget and constraints, then agree what good looks like and how it will be measured.
Design
We design the solution end to end: architecture, integrations, security, data, user experience and the plan to get there safely.
Build
We deliver in planned stages with clear milestones, regular demonstrations and testing, so there are no surprises at go-live.
Secure
Security, access control, backup and compliance are built into every stage, not bolted on once the project is finished.
Support
We train your people, hand over documentation and stay on to monitor, maintain and improve the solution over time.
Common questions
Should we build or buy?
Buy, wherever a mature product covers your requirements at reasonable cost. You will get more capability for less money and somebody else maintains it. Build when your process is genuinely a differentiator, when integration requirements are unusual, or when the products available force compromises that damage the business. We give this advice before we quote, not after.
How do you price development work?
Discovery is a fixed price. Once we know what we are building, most projects are quoted as fixed price against an agreed scope, delivered in stages so you see working software early. For longer-running or evolving products, a time-and-materials arrangement with a monthly cap is sometimes more honest, and we will say which we recommend and why.
Who owns the code?
You do. Source code, documentation and intellectual property transfer to you, and we hand over everything needed for another team to take it on. We want you to stay because the work is good.
What technologies do you use?
We choose based on the problem, your existing environment and what will be maintainable for you long term, typically mainstream, well-supported stacks rather than niche frameworks that become hard to hire for. We will always explain the choice.
How long does a project take?
A focused internal tool might be six to ten weeks. A substantial platform with integrations runs to several months. We deliver in stages so useful functionality reaches users well before the final milestone.
Often combined with
Services that tend to be delivered alongside this one.
Systems Integration
Make your existing platforms talk to each other instead of replacing what already works.
AI & Automation
Practical AI and workflow automation that removes manual effort and speeds up delivery.
Data & Analytics
Turn scattered data into dashboards and reporting your leadership team actually uses.
